Loyola University Health System is proud to be an official charity partner of the 36th Bank of America Chicago Marathon for the first time. You can be part of Chicago’s most exciting athletic event and do it all for a great cause! As one of 45,000 runners conquering the city’s streets, you will be among runners from all 50 states and more than 100 countries as you wind your way through more than 25 of Chicago’s most popular neighborhoods, all while making a difference for our patients and their families.
The Bank of America Chicago Marathon announced a registration system in 2014, offering two ways to register:
- Lottery Entry
- Guaranteed Entry, through one or more of the following ways:
- Running with an official Bank of America Chicago Marathon charity partner (like Loyola University Health System).
- Completing 5 or more Chicago Marathons from 2004 to 2013.
- Having a verifiable qualifying time: 3:15 for men and 3:45 for women since Jan. 1, 2012.
How Do I Receive a Secured Spot?
As a new charity partner, Loyola has five guaranteed spots for those who join Team Loyola. By committing to our fundraising minimum of $1,000, you will be placed on our team list and receive registration information to register starting March 19. Spots will be given on a first come, first served basis, so reserve yours today by emailing Jacqueline Lowe at firstname.lastname@example.org.

How are the funds I raise used?
Once you are a confirmed member of Team Loyola, the Office of Development will work with you to ensure the funds you raise benefit your area of passion within the health system.
Can I still be a member of Team Loyola if I don’t get one of the five guaranteed spots?
Absolutely! By becoming a member of Team Loyola, you commit to donate or raise funds of at least $1,000 if using a guaranteed spot or $500 if you are registering through the lottery system. When registering for the marathon, please choose “Loyola University Health System” as the charity you are supporting. All members will receive the above listed perks.
How do I raise the funds?
It’s easy! You will be provided with a personal fundraising page powered by Crowdrise. This system allows you to share your inspirational story with your family, friends and colleagues and raise funds for your chosen passion within the health system.
What if I don’t raise the required amount?
We will provide you with all the necessary tools to raise the required amount. The fundraising minimum must be met by October 20, 2014. If you are awarded one of Team Loyola’s guaranteed entries, we will ask for credit card information as a guarantee of your commitment to raise $1,000. If your donations do not total the full minimum pledge, your credit card will be charged on October 20, 2014 for the amount necessary to fulfill that pledge. Any amount charged to your credit card will be considered a charitable donation, and we will send you confirmation of this donation for tax purposes.
If you are unable to participate in the marathon due to illness, injury, or conflict, you are obligated to raise at least half of the required $500/$1,000 as set forth in this agreement. Please note that donations will not be refundable if the fundraiser does not participate in the marathon.
